For nearly a decade, BASIC Magazine has championed fashion photography in print, publishing the work of emerging talent alongside some of the industry’s most recognized photographers and creative voices.
Now, BASIC and Kavyar come together for FASHION / FRAME—to discover the next generation of image-makers and celebrate original vision, powerful storytelling, and the artists behind the lens.
The competition features six distinct categories. Choose the category that best represents your work, select your image count, and submit your entry.

Meet Viktorija Pashuta
Fashion photographer, creative director, and Founder & Editor-in-Chief of BASIC Magazine, Viktorija Pashuta has spent nearly a decade shaping the publication into an international platform for distinctive fashion imagery and creative voices. Born in Latvia and based in California, her work is defined by a cinematic, story-driven approach to image-making and a belief in the enduring power of print.
As the creative force behind BASIC, she leads the magazine’s editorial vision, visual identity, and global collaborations—bringing established names and emerging talent into the same pages.
In her introduction, Viktorija shares the vision behind BASIC and what its editors are looking to discover through FASHION / FRAME.

BASIC Magazine’s editorial team selects first, second and third place in each category. They consider originality, fashion relevance, creative direction, technical execution, category fit and editorial impact. Editorial Story is also judged for narrative, progression and cohesion.
