Guidelines
Whether you are a fashion designer, photographer, makeup artist, or another creative entrepreneur who creates a visual work and you are over 18 years old, we accept your submissions from all over the world. We welcome as also writers who want to contribute Dark Stories, poems, etc...

DARKLY magazine welcomes Fashion, Beauty, Fantasy, Avant-garde, and art photography submissions for print and online consideration. We work with talent all around the world, so anyone could potentially be featured on our website or spread across our glossy magazine pages! For details on how to submit your work, please read the following guidelines thoroughly.

* Editorial submissions should consist of a minimum of 4 different images but should be consistent. Same color story Same quality of editing, Same filter series. Please don't take black and white mixed with this other grainy colorful thing that’s blasted out with saturated tones. If going black and white is your intention it’s throughout the whole thing.
Use Different poses, angles, outfits, etc…

* We prefer unpublished EXCLUSIVES works. The priority will be given to the exclusive content.
 Exclusive works are automatically qualified for Cover.

* Only Submit if You Intend to Fulfill the Contract

Do not submit to a publisher if you do not intend to honor the contract that is created once your submission is accepted by the publisher. It is considered poor practice to send the same submission to multiple publishers and then cancel an accepted submission because you would prefer a different opportunity. If you have a preference, submit to one publisher at a time and wait for a response.

*Preparing a Submission

Fulfill all Submission Requirements
Carefully read submission guidelines to make sure that all requirements are met. Certain opportunities will ask for additional information to be added to the submission statement or sent via submission messaging. Do this at the time of submission to prevent delays or cancellation of your submission.

*Properly credit all photos. Put all teams involved in the shoot.

Publishers may choose not to use every photo you submit. Make sure each photo is properly credited at the time of submission so that publishers do not have to waste time trying to track down this information in the days leading up to publication. This can lead to publication delays or cancellation of your submission.

* If your submission is selected for publishing, you will be instructed to review all credits and Instagram handles, this must be done before the deadline. If you need any corrections after publishing, there will be a fee of $15 payable through our PayPal account.

* Photos MUST be sized accordingly in order to be published. For reference, DARKLY ART Magazine pages are precisely 8.5×11 inches and photos should be high quality at 300 dpi for print.
Make sure your images are in sRGB in order to prevent color change on publication.

* Be sure to include a title for your editorial, along with team credits and your bio or story. For team credits, list all related agencies and management firms, where applicable. (e.g. Photographer: John Doe @ABC Management, Model: Jane Doe @DEF Agency, etc.) For clothing credits, list each article of clothing featured, along with the designer/brand name. (Same for any beauty products used.) Be sure to list clothing credits with the corresponding file name, so we know which photo you’re referring to. (e.g. Photo_123: ABC BRAND top, DEF LABEL heels, etc.)

* Please double-check to make sure all information is accurate. Credits are published exactly as sent and we are not responsible for errors.

***SELECTION PROCESS & RELEASE***

* Due to the volume of submissions we receive, the release can be up to one month.
We unfortunately cannot respond to every email or message. Typically, we only contact photographers/artists whose work we are interested in publishing.

By submitting your work to DARKLY ART Magazine, you grant us the right to publish your material in print or online. (Website, Instagram, Facebook, Kavyar and for other promotions, etc...)
 Once DARKLY accepts your submission, we reserve the right to publish all or some of your images. If we choose not to publish your photos, you will receive a rejected message, leaving you free to submit them elsewhere.

If your submission is not selected for publishing, it’s likely for one of the following reasons:
* Your submission did not fully adhere to our guidelines.

* The quality and/or style of your images were not right for our magazine at the time.

* Your images did not fit the current issue’s aesthetic or season.

* We’ve reached our maximum page count for a particular issue.

* Our decision to use your images can change at any time, leading to final edit.
DARKLY Magazine also reserves the right to pull any story that does not meet our guidelines. The Editor’s decision is final, so please make sure you’re comfortable with these conditions before submitting.

* The sorts of images we prefer:

* Unusual, high fashion, and dark creative ideas

* Good editing with professional-looking skin work

* Variety in the posing, angles and composition

* Professional make-up

* Cover story - Sharp image

Rejection Reasons:

* Poor low light work / noisy images/out-of-focus

* Bad skin editing - waxing face (using automated software)

* The quality of work is not high enough.

* Wardrobe is repeated throughout the editorial.

* Poses are repeated.
* Repeated expression.

* Images contain watermarks.

We ask for Exclusive images until released. If your images have been published in another magazine, please don’t send us the same as you will be rejected straight.

Submissions are FREE but if you ask for your work to be featured as the cover, or if you want extra pages, there will be an extra cost, as our covers are on a paid plan. However, each month we have three to five winners for a FREE cover, chosen by the editorial board among the best submissions and exclusives.

Please check our Pinterest Moodboard for ideas.
