Laurel DeWitt earned the moniker “The Queen of Chain & Metal” for her decade- long endeavor of building her brand that reimagines the distinction between clothing and accessories.
She graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 2005, and immediately began laying the groundwork for the Laurel DeWitt brand while simultaneously building a career as a prolific handbag designer for Kenneth Cole Reaction, Oscar de la Renta, Juicy Couture, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Fila, Rocawear, Target, and Walmart, just to name a few.
Laurel’s theatrical NYFW shows ignited a flame that could not be extinguished. Her intentional casting represented the diversity of our world long before it was an industry-standard; Amber Rose graced the Laurel DeWitt runway––breaking the industry’s thin model norm––as did trans model and entertainer, Carmen Carrera.
Her designs caught the eye of some of the industry's most reputable stylists and have been adorned by Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Salma Hayek, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Nicki Minaj, Jay Z, Madonna, Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Mary J. In 2017 Laurel relocated to Los Angeles, expanding her custom design work & adding television & film to her robust résumé. Her designs have been featured in: Black is King, Empire, Dancing with the Stars, The Latin Billboard Awards, The Voice, HBO Max’s Legendary, Insecure, Hustlers, Coming 2 America, and a plethora of projects currently in production.
Above all, Laurel DeWitt is a consummate artist that is consistently challenging herself to meet any design challenge; her skill, work ethic, and attention to detail are the foundation on which she’s built her career and those same things are what will keep her forging her own path as she continues to shape her legacy.
