Laud Theme - Revolution

Revolution – a time of drastic change, regime, technology style. Something new, buck the trend, advance the Avant-garde.

Take the existing paradigm and forge something completely new.

Build beauty from the ashes of the past.

Laud is calling for submissions that exemplify the theme of REVOLUTION while holding to Laud's core of beauty and art.

Consider the following observations and how they can influence your photostory submission:
- Sociopolitical: Depictions of revolution through history and into the future.
- Technological: From the It Girl to the girl that has everything. How has technology moulded our view of beauty and visual art?
- Makeup and Beauty: Khol, arsenic, lead were once mainstays of the beauty industry. Revolution in product has given us access to both the fantastic and the sublime.
- BodyArt: The depth and range of colour, materials and prosthetics has revolutionised bodyart. The range of colour, detail and theme in temporary and permanent tattoos is astounding.

Consider the wheel – it revolves, has revolutions.
So do records, the world, games, races, submarines – all have revolutions of a different kind. - Anything with Revolutions or plain-old RPM can fit the the theme. Apply your creativity.

Use our theme to inform your photography. Create a visual story of stunning beauty. Depict an audacious counter-culture, a past or future revolution, celebrate momentous change or impresses us with your clever revolution.

Laud as always brought it audience the very best celebration of beauty. Revolution represents acknowledgement that the best is no longer just the domain of the photographic agency. As in the early days of photography, the gifted armature works alongside the professional in producing beauty for the world to consume. This revolution in the source of beauty is reflected in LAUD's increased focus on submission content.

LAUD is looking for well thought out ideas. Take the time to process what it is you want to say. Is the concept reflected in all the details – hair, makeup, nails, time period, lighting, the image… it’s not enough to have just one strong aspect : everything should reflect your brilliant idea!

LAUD is multicultural and doesn’t discriminate age wise. That said, we are working with some of the world’s best modeling agencies & creatives so the better the talent, the better your chances are of being published. We don’t promote one particular type of beauty, but we are aspirational, we would recommend getting your hands on the best talent you can. If you are new to the business, team up with a photographer and contact modeling agencies to begin testing new faces. They will let you do this free of charge and it will often be a gateway into working with their talent. Remember, the more amazing the face, the more amazing your work will be!

There is nothing more boring than being a copycat. Be a voice, not an echo. Odds are that if you are copying the reference in every aspect, yours will look like the cheap version. Take risks, be bold and try new things – you will be a lot closer to finding your voice as an artist if you stretch your creativity.

Change that Hairstyle and Makeup between shots, Laud are looking to see a variety of Hairstyles and Makeup within an Editorial.

LAUD loves fashion – so we welcome accessories, fashion, and anything that enhances your concept. Remember though to keep it relevant. Often, less is more, so stay focused! Make sure that the Fashion isn’t the focus, keep that the focus on Hair and Beauty, complement your concept with Fashion.
