Fashion Designer / Stylist / Illustrator/ Artist.
Toronto Fashion Academy.
My name is Fredson Silva Agudá and I was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
I am an artist, a painter, a fashion designer, a stylist and overall an art lover, who has always been highly influenced by the colourful life of the streets and alleys of my brazilian hometown, as well as the sound of drums and dances that embody my ethnic background. The energy of the ocean and the vibrations of drums and samba music notes become beautiful colours and forms on my canvases and on my fashion designs, representations of the joy and the cheerfulness that Brazilians have in their souls. Brazil is a wonderful mixture of races and cultures, all of them stunning in their own way, and even though I gather inspiration from everything as a whole, I get my main inspiration in the Afro-Brazilian universe, the environment in which I was born.
Before leaving Brazil I took Fashion Design courses at university in my hometown and got involved in social projects that used fashion to empower and revitalize the self-esteem of youth. I believe that fashion in itself has the capacity to empower people through creating and discovering beauty, and by giving the individual a platform to believe and love themselves.
During my formation years in Brazil I participated in a very successful Fashion Project called "Pretamorfose", a movement created and implemented by twenty fashion students (designers, stylists and seamstresses) whose main purpose was to empower black and multiracial youth in their environment, in order to help them accept themselves within the scope of the multicultural world where we live in today.
Arriving in Canada, after spending six years in Germany, I finally began to define myself as an artist living in Toronto, a wonderful, vibrant city that has a unique sense of art and a very distinct fashion concept. I am excited at the prospects of growing professionally in this city, a place where I am able to showcase my own fashion and art concept, an environment that seems to respect uniqueness and individuality within the span of a big multicultural city. It is in Toronto where I start once again to fulfill my desires and dreams to grow as an artist, as a designer and as a stylist. I take advantage of the vibrant art scene of Toronto by attending workshops, photo shoots, fashion shows, and art events, always trying to enjoy a new learning experience and also bringing my own skills in order to contribute to it to the best of my abilities.
